Commissions by James Charles Morris
Commissions by James Charles Morris
For years, people have asked whether I accept commissions. With only a few exceptions, I've rarely taken on commission work, and I've never made it a regular public offering.
That said, I've been listening.
I'm opening up 25 commission slots for original 11 x 14 inch canvas works.
Not only is this an opportunity to own a one-of-a-kind piece created specifically for you, but every commission will also help support the ongoing mission of The Detroit Exhibit, a platform dedicated to preserving, documenting, and honoring the legacy of Detroit's Black artistic community.
Once all 25 slots are filled, commissions will close.
Instructions
1. Reserve Your Slot
To secure your place, purchase an available commission slot and provide your contact information during checkout. Please note that commission work will only be scheduled once a slot has been purchased.
2. Initial Consultation
Within 24–48 hours of reserving your commission, you will be contacted to schedule a one-on-one consultation. This conversation will allow us to discuss your vision, ideas, and any details needed to develop the artwork.
3. Project Approval & Creation
Once the commission details have been finalized and approved, work will begin on the artwork.
4. Commission Queue & Completion Timeline
Commissions will be completed in the order that slots are purchased. Your position in the commission queue will determine when work begins on your piece and its estimated completion timeline.
5. The Creative Process
Each commission is a one-of-a-kind original creation. Please be mindful that quality work takes time, and adequate care will be given throughout the creative process to ensure the strongest possible result.
6. Progress Updates
Progress reports and updates will be provided during the creation of the artwork so you can follow the development of your piece.
7. Final Review
Upon completion, a digital proof of the artwork will be provided for your review and approval.
8. Preparation & Delivery
Once the artwork has been reviewed and finalized, it will be framed and prepared for delivery.
9. Pickup or Shipping
Completed commissions may be picked up in person or shipped. Shipping costs vary and will be determined based on the destination and delivery requirements.
